It Must be Monday
Then it happened. I was chasing after Ethan, pleading with him to put his pants back on (his latest craze), when I experienced a burst of excruciating, mind-blowing pain in my left foot. Specifically, the outer three toes of said foot. I began to scream “OUUUUUCH!!! OOOOOOOWWW!!” and Ethan proceeded to laugh hysterically like he’s never seen anything more entertaining. (I’m sure it seemed pretty funny to a person who’s never witnessed the feat of a body launching itself across 30 feet to land on the floor in a heap.) This didn’t improve my now in-the-dumps mood. Long story short:
Moral: kids should be allowed to run naked. Amidst the ChaosAfter the craziness of keeping a hyperactive, 3-year-old boy and his baby sister entertained for the better part of today, it’s amazing to think I actually accomplished something: 2 loads of laundry, guest bath wipe-down (no time for the real deal!), entry closet unpacked/organized, dinner for guests prepared/served/put away, FB time (of course!), and random clothing items from the garage restored to their proper place in my closet. I need to take a moment to pat myself on the back since there are a million and one other things I still needed to accomplish “today”. Luckily there’s tomorrow. Bee AfraidThe kids got the best of me with snack time today. Almost half of the gold fish crackers, multi-colored mind you, were strewn about the play room in smithereens. Some on the carpet… some in the couch (as the cushions were removed)… some in the play kitchen. Must have been pay back for trying to pull together something for dinner. :) So I kept my cool, hauled the vacuum upstairs, and got ready to start cracker cleanup. All of a sudden something flies up from the carpet, beams me in the face <shriek!>, and fall back to the floor. It’s a bee!! A big, ole, nasty, hairy, bumble bee… and he’s walking around like he’s drunk, on our carpet, in the middle of winter. Of course I was temporarily freaked out. I pulled together my mommy self so as not to cause the kiddos permanent bee damage and I looked around for something (anything!) to wield at the tiny beast. I scooped him up in one of the kids shoe boxes and quickly realized it has a hurkin’ hole in the side, which I covered up with a plastic Step2 play plate. The whole time I was telling the kids, “hey, it’s ok. It’s just a bee. No problem. We don’t want to kill it. We’ll take it…” Oops! Dropped the bee. Stomped on said bee. Scooped it up… in the box with the hole. It’s still alive! Back with the plate. “It’s ok… he’s still alive. I’ll take him out to the deck.” Where I quickly ran to slowly deposit my tiny prize. Only to find out he wasn’t in there. And we haven’t seen him since. Hmmmm… New AddictionWell, I’ve joined the masses on Facebook and have discovered a new addiction (for now). It’s pretty cool to re-connect with people who I haven’t talked to in forever. Sooooo… feel free to get out there and add me as a friend! :) Site Changes
You may notice things missing that you previously enjoyed while visiting. Well, we’ve decided to consolidate our family postings on a Hughes site. So a lot of the content has moved over there and this space will be totally “Amy-fied” for my photography and life thoughts. :) Hope this doesn’t confuse you too much. Enjoy exploring! Oh, and bear with us as things are taken down and moved over. It’ll take a few days. XOXO |
